Do you want to be leaner and healthier?
Approximately one in two New Zealanders are obese or overweight, that’s almost half of the population! And the prevalence of obesity has tripled in the last 30 years.
Being overweight or obese is a significant health risk. It has been proven that by losing excess body fat and living a healthier lifestyle you will not only live longer but also look better and have more energy.
Shake it
The Shake it is a natural fat loss system, which uses the body’s own metabolism to burn fat. Available only from all about health & wellness, the Shake it is based on a person gaining a maximum of 10% of calories from low GI (glycaemic index) carbohydrates, 60% of calories from fat and a minimum of 30% of calories from protein.
The use of only low GI carbohydrates by the Shake it ensures that the body does not produce high levels of insulin. This is important as high levels of insulin will cause the body to store carbohydrates as fat and stops fat being converted to energy. This has the effect of not only making a person fat, but will keep them fat. Similarly, the high protein content of the Shake it is critical as it ensures the maintenance of muscle mass, the place where fat is converted to energy.
Throw away the scales
Most people associate weight loss with good health, but this is not always the case. Many diets designed to reduce a person’s weight do so by depleting the body’s fluid levels and muscle mass. This can cause a rebound effect in weight gain, damage the immune system and, in some cases, cause irreparable harm to a person’s health. Body composition (or the fat to muscle ratio) should be the focus of any “weight loss” program. Reducing body fat while preserving muscle mass is the number one biomarker of ageing and has been shown to be one of the best ways to promote good health, improve body shape and increase longevity.
Get the right advice
Experts recommend that before you undertake any “weight loss” program that you consult with a healthcare professional to assess your current health status. This is common sense and is part of the reason why the Shake it is available only from healthcare professionals.
Paddy is the best person to explain the Shake it to you. She will be able to do a complete analysis of your body composition, help you to set goals, develop an exercise program and monitor your progress. It’s important to note that the Shake it is not a “weight loss” program but a fat loss program. Depending on the amount of muscle mass you have, Paddy may want you to gain more muscle while you are losing fat.
Understand that you are not alone
Changing your eating habits and undertaking an exercise program may seem like a daunting task, but the Shake it is easy to follow and you will not have to do it alone. Paddy and the all about health & wellness team are an excellent source of support and we have numerous techniques to help get you started and keep you motivated.
